Horseclans of Ageria

The Horseclans
are divided into several primary houses, and numerous secondary houses. The primary houses are House Wintersong,
House Tamarkand, House Reggio,
House Sericana, and House Clairmont. The fact that a clan-member is a member of a
particular house does not necessarily mean he or she was born into it;
frequently, members are adopted into a house.
Below is a list of some of the members of four of the Houses.
House
Wintersong:
Aethelu
Wintersong. Warrior-Bard,
also known as the Matron Mother of the clan, despite her young age. As a child, Aethelu was dispossessed by
rivals to her inheritance (she knows not what it is), kidnapped and left to die
on the plains. Only she didn’t. She survived, befriended by gypsies,
soothsayers, and the nomads, who foretold she would one day greatly influence
events in Lorasia. In her youth she was
a common sight scavenging the other human encampments’ trash heaps as she moved
from camp to camp, or city to city. As
she grew into a young woman, her leadership qualities came to light, and she
slowly acquired about her an adopted clan of fellow “outcasts,” whom became the
Horseclans of Ageria.
Lucan and Philo were the first to rally to
her. Aethelu is the Horseclans’
idealist, fighting alongside the Grelgs against demon
invaders one moment, and ransoming captive elves from those same Grelgs the next, alternately praising and criticizing
them.
Alignment:
Neutral.
Dresses: Usually
plain trousers and a colorful jersey. In
battle she wears fitted Dwarven plate-mail, and
carries a beautifully crafted sword named, aptly enough “Normal Sword” after a
particularly famous (and lengthy) speech of hers.
Likes: Taliensin,
Smoovie Grelg, strolls on
the beach, battle.
Dislikes:
Smoovie Grelg (it’s a
love-hate kind of thing).
Latest Rumor: Has
fallen head-over-heels for Taliensin the Bard.
Lucan. Senior Warlord,
House Wintersong. Half-Orc. Lucan is ferocious
in battle, lousy with directions. He is
a good tactician and leader. His twin
brother is Philo. Both Lucan and Philo have the hearts of cavaliers, and adhere to
a high code of honor. Their natural
mother was raped by an orc. She became
pregnant, and in horror and shame, cast the twin infants out into the snow
after birth. And old woman of the
village who had no children of her own took them in and raised them. But, eventually, their true nature became
known when their natural mother betrayed them, and they and the old woman were
cast out of the village. The old woman
died soon thereafter. Lucan and Philo could have taken their lessons from the
townspeople and learned to hate, but instead they took them from their adopted
mother and learned to love. They were
hunted by bounty hunters. They met
Aethelu in the wilderness. As the three
stood, facing each other down, they realized Aethelu did not intend to harm
them, and she realized the same about them.
They joined with her rapidly growing adopted clan. Both Lucan and
Philo are absolutely devoted to Aethelu.
Alignment: Leans
towards law.
Dresses: Fitted Dwarven Plate-Mail.
He carries the sword “Quickflame.”

Alcina.
Chief BattleMage, House Wintersong. Alcina is the pragmatist of the Horseclans
and chief advisor to the Matron Mother.
Very little is known about her past, although she, like Lucan and Philo, is absolutely devoted to the Matron
Mother.
Alignment: Leans
towards law.
Dresses: Partial
to flowing robes of dark colors.
Likes:
A really nice fire.

Most Grelgs. She also thinks her
likes and dislikes go together rather nicely.
Latest Rumor: Has
been seeing both Lucan and Aleath.
Philo. Squire, Man-at-Arms, artificer. Philo is the engineer, mechanic, and master
craftsmen of the Horseclans, although he runs a very lively competition with
Graydon.

being a warlord.

Prester John. Paladin. Patriach, House Tamarkand. Formerly the Horseclans’ High Priest of the
Balance, now a Paladin of the Balance.
While Prester John serves the Matron Mother,
he is absolutely devoted to the Greater Ones of the Multiverse.

Latest Rumor:
Nothing, really. Quite
a boring fellow.
Graydon. Squire. Beer-Meister. The
bane of Prester John and Iroldo,
Graydon is House Tamarkand’s so-called black sheep.
Graydon may talk a lot about beer (and drink a lot), but he is the
jack-of-all-trades, the spy and secret agent, troubleshooter, the ferreter out
of information, womanizer, and general ner-do-well of
the clan and all-around great guy. His
role is more important, however, than his outward attitude would belie.
Alignment:
Probably leaning towards the chaotic.
Dresses:
Whatever’s handy.
Likes:
Beer. Lots of beer.
Dislikes:
Any non-alcoholic beverage.
Latest Rumor:
Lisa, Meridiana, Antea,

although she keeps an eye on Lucan, who seems to be
taking an interest in her.
House Sericana:
Jalal

also called the “Young Prince.” Looks
like Edward the Black Prince in “A Knights Tale.” Jalal also adheres to a high code of honor.

toward law.

leggings, black jerkin, long black duster; black chain in battle. Always armed.
Likes:
Bradamante, Marfisa.

Latest Rumor:
He’s playing the two female warlords against one-another. Rogue.
Marfisa. Warlord. Ruggiero’s twin sister.
Marfisa currently leads the Agerian
Guard. She is the Clan’s expert
archer. Marfisa is a fairly reliable
warrior.
Alignment:
Neutral.
Dresses: Chain
skirt, tailer, loincloth and loinguard,
broadbelt, armored corset, knee-high leather boots
with metal guards, bracers. When not in
chain, she substitutes a more suitable skirt and embossed corset. Usually armed with a
longsword and dagger.
Likes:
The idea of winning the Lorasia Games marksmanship contest next year.
Dislikes:
Idleness. Hence, lots and lots of training for the
troops.
Latest Rumor: She
has developed a “thing” for Prester John, but has
also dated Graydon and Jalal ad-Din.
Antea. Squire. Sister of Jalal. Also quite amazon-like. Admirer of Ksenia the Raven. Also an admirer (in a
different way) of Arislan of the Crusaders.

a little chaotic.

little as possible. Usually
a chain loincloth and chain bustenhalt (bra), nicely
accented by black boots.

can’t wait to join-up with the Campfire Girlz.

Very well muscled and coordinated, she shows considerable weapons
skill. Desires to
become a warlord in her own right.
Alignment:
Neutral.

dark leather corset, fine chainmail skirt (with cloth
padded guards for protection of the groin and tailbone areas), knee-high metal
reinforced leather boots.
Likes: Sparring
with her half-brother.
Dislikes:
Sparring with Marfisa.
Latest Rumor: She
was seen recently coming out of Graydon’s tent late one night.
House Reggio:
Aleath. Patriarch,
House Reggio.
Master Mage. Aleath
generally keeps to himself and is quite mysterious. He is, however, a close confidant of Alcina. Looks like “Spooky Mulder”
from the X-Files.
Alignment:
Neutral.
Dresses: Robes,
usually black.
Likes: No one
really knows, and no one really wants to ask.
Dislikes:
Ditto.
Latest Rumor:

sure they do it with both of them are out of
camp. Which leads to the second rumor –
there’s been an increase in the toad population lately. Probably unrelated.
Lisa. Grand Druid of the
Horseclans. Lisa is tall,
freckled, very light complexioned, well proportioned and somewhat fey in
appearance, with long, straight red hair.
